IACC: Accreditation
Training Requirements
- Student / Lecture contact: 450 hours (Must include a minimum of 75 hours of a Recognised Christian Counselling Course)
- Supervised client work (during training): 100 hours
- Supervision hours ratio (during training) 1:8 (One hour of one-to-one supervision for every eight hours of client work)
- Personal therapy (during training): 50 hours (Must be with an accredited IACC or IACP counsellor)
Post-Training Requirements
- Post training supervised client work: 300 hours (by an IACC Approved supervisor that was not involved in your core training – hours to be completed over a minimum of 2 years, maximum of 5 years)
- Supervision hours ratio (post training) 1:10 (One hour of one-to-one supervision for every ten client hours. A minimum of 50 hours must be completed within the last 12 months prior to your application for accreditation)
Accreditation Process
Provision of evidence of competence is counselling by means of:
- Submission of two completed case studies taken from the last two years of post-training counselling.
- Provision of evidence that the applicant is currently involved in supervised counselling and keeping adequate records of the same
- An interview with the Accreditation Panel after receipt of the written application
- A reference from the applicant’s supervisor (Supervisor’s Reference Form)
Additional requirements
- Must be an Associate Member of IACC for one year prior to applying for Accreditation
- A reference from the applicant’s minister or church leader who knows the applicant well and can attest to their continuing growth in Christian maturity. (Reference form may not be from your supervisor or spouse)
- A signed Statement of Faith and Code of Ethics and Practice
- Agrees to undertake further training in Christian or secular counselling of at least 40 hours during the five-year accreditation period.
- Payment of the Accreditation Application Fee and the annual accredited membership fee
- It is required that you have professional indemnity insurance coverage.
