IAPT: Accreditation
The Irish Play Therapy Asociation provides two routes to Accreditation.
IAPT’s Benchmark Criteria for Play Therapists are based on the recognition of play therapy as a therapeutic
intervention that must be practiced by competent mental health professionals with comprehensive training in the
theory and practice of play therapy, and associated professional practice skills. It recognises that children are
naturally dependent on adults for care and protection and the arising need for child – centred services to take a
systemic approach and ensure that practitioners are adequately trained to intervene competently in the relevant
micro and meso-systems.
