How to become an ACCORD Accredited Counsellor

ACCORD Counselling Service is the largest provider of Marriage & Relationship Counselling in Ireland.
Currently there are three pathways to becoming an ACCORD Counsellor:

ACCORD Higher Diploma in Counselling
DCU ACCORD Graduate programme
Associate Counsellor Programme
The following steps are involved in Application, Selection, Training & Accreditation

  • Download and forward the appropriate application form.
  • Applications will be processed based on selection criteria. A panel will be formed from successful applications from which highest scoring applicants will be invited for interview, group and psychological assessment.
  • Following assessment successful candidates will be placed on a panel.
  • Highest scoring applicants will be offered entry to ACCORD’s Counsellor Training programme.
  • Successful graduates become ACCORD accredited counsellors.
  • Accreditation is maintained on a yearly basis by counsellor who must:
    • Carry out a minimum of 50 voluntary sessions per year.
    • Provide evidence of 8 hrs CPD per annum.
    • Attend any prescribed Essential to practice CPD.
    • Provide evidence of ongoing clinical supervision.
    • Take part in ACCORD continuous Quality Improvement processes.
